Big day ahead

Woke up this morning just to go for one hour of school. Beats me why I actually went at all, but I guess I can't risk anything happening to my attendance no?

Then when I came back I crashed til 1 plus pm and had my lunch.

But anyway, back to subject of going down to the pub. Me and my sis, well actually, my sis gave me suggestions on what to wear, colour coordination etc .. and we took an hour with me trying out my clothes, her clothes until she was satisfied. And she wanted me to tie my hair. All this at 12.30am. I'm pleased with the end result .. will take pics if I can tonight ^^

P.S: I think I can hire her as my fashion consultant. Hoho.

P.S.S: I need to do more sit ups. She says I've more baby fats on my tummy than her =x Wahhh

Updates

I ended up going down to KKH myself, since my mum thought I was enough to help her with stuff. Sitting around and waiting for the head doctor to come by and declare my sis discharged was what we did for most part of the afternoon. I swear I was super drowsy when finally at 5pm the doc came by, then my mum settled some admin stuff and we went home in a cab. And the air-conditioner in KKH is soooo cold.

Nothing much to talk about, 'cept my sis vomited again when she reached home. I do think there's some sort of virus that caused my sis to have the runs (she went in and out of the toilet 7 times while in KKH), not the medicine that they gave her to help loosen her bowels. In any case, she's fallen asleep and declined dinner, but we're still gonna be observing her .. and yeah, a diet change is in store for her.

Meanwhile VStudio corrupted my desktop. My bro says he can't get to the desktop at all, so I had to uninstall it in safe mode. *grumbles* Which means I'm gonna have to do all my VStudio related stuff in sch. Bah humbug ..

Tomorrow we're going down to the temple in Toa Payoh to pray for my sis's safe return from hospital .. I figure its half a day gone. Just as well, once I come back GE *should* be up. I hope.

6.40pm last night saw me and my dad leaving the house, since he didn't want to take his dinner first. Which was as well, because by the time we reached Novena, took bus 56 for 2 stops and then walked a ways up the road and reached the Children Tower of KKH, it was already 8pm. Which was the time their official visiting hours ended =x

When we went in the ward, and saw my sis sleeping .. it really hurts to see her being the one lying there. Then my mum filled us in on the day's events, basically they found out after x-ray that she had fiscal matter floating around, uncleared. So she's warded for further observation.

Patients there are really .. pampered. Every 2 hours, the nurses will come in with a check-list of food you can order for breakfast/lunch/tea/dinner/supper, and then bring it in to you after noting down what you ate. Bells are located conveniently so you can call the nurses when you need to. Guess what my sis ordered? Fish fingers. And she's getting chicken chop for lunch today. o_0 Then somewhere along the way she woke up, and then we all had a nice long chat .. although she was most concerned about her handphone. I think she was starting to get bored to death there. According to my mum 3 friends rang her up so she narrated her story thrice in full detail to the 3 of them lols

And since my sis was warded, the only meals my mum had were the bread they served as snacks .. so by the time we went there, it was the 8th piece. I think my mum can slim down if this keeps up for another day XD. My sis showed me a plaster on her left hand, saying it was there because when they tried to poke into her veins they couldn't find any blood (after causing a few holes). Then they inserted one long, eeky needle into her right vein which she says hurts like nuts. And she told me when she first arrived at the hospital, her blood pressure was 46, when sitting/standing up it was only 80 plus, but when lying down it was 100 plus which was considered normal. o_0

When I handed her the dino soft-toy I brought from home so she wouldn't be lonely, she grinned. Maybe it was a childish gesture on my part but ah well. Later at 12.30pm me and my lil bro are gonna meet my grandma at Yishun so we can all go down to visit, then I'll take over my mum while she goes home for a nap, and come back with my dad. Mum just called to say my sis's tests results were good, so she might be discharged early and we might not need to visit. We'll see how things go.

December 18, 2007

1.30pm.

Her x ray results are out - fishbone's been cleared. She's just seen the ENT doctor (for throat) and they're feeding her through a drip. Meanwhile she's lying in bed sleeping because she'll feel giddy whenever she stands/sits up.

Change of plans - we're all going down to visit her, but after dinner. And maybe I'll have to take over my mum for "watch duty" from night til morning.

Prepared myself for no internet =x

Hopefully she'll only be in the B1 ward for 2 days, and then come home. But now we're waiting for other test results to come in.

Told her bf about it. He's really a nice, sweet guy, what with all the caring smses. Heck I'm jealous lol. But then I thought he should be informed since my mum isn't letting my sis touch her handphone at all =x Haven't had the chance to tell my sis Aaron knows already .. haiz.

I've promised him to update whenever possible.

P.S: Someone tell me I'm dreaming pls.

P.S.S: GE will undergo 2.5 days of maintainence for the new 2.4 patch til Thurs 12pm. Hooray.

9.45am.

Mum just smsed me to say my sis has been warded, but she's having a fever now and her blood pressure is low, and they're going for her x-ray.

I can visit her after lunch. My brother's gonna stay at home with the maid.

By the powers that be, I hope they watch over my sis.

I don't want to think of what will happen if anything goes wrong.

Is this for real?

6.40 am, and I'm woken by sounds coming from the living room. Nothing unusual, but when I go outside, my sister is lying on the sofa, face grey. When I try to talk to her she can barely make a peep. Then my mum says something about the hospital and dials 995, then gives the address for an ambulance to come asap.

Still disoriented, I ask my maid what's going on. She said "(Hui)Yuan shake on floor, ming". Convulsions I think. Then I recall that last night my sis told me about the fishbone she swallowed, and how she still felt chest pains after vomiting a bit. Mum comes over and gets me to get my sis's stuff and to get changed - she wants me to accompany her to hospital.

Then the SCDF people arrive, take my sis's blood pressure and stuff, then after asking a few qns about my sister's medical history, about what happened, they said everything's fine but if my mum wants, they can take her to hospital for check-up. Then she decided on KK Hospital, but the SCDF people tell us that only one can accompany my sis on the ambulance. So I'm left to watch them as they strap my sis in a chair and wheel her out of the house, followed by my mum.

Its only 5 mins after they leave, that it hits me: my sis, strapped to a chair, is en route to hospital for a check-up. Of course I don't want this to be real but it's happening. This is an early morning nightmare for me. Crap for all things to happen.

So here I sit in the study room, blogging with an upset stomach. Forgot I hadn't had breakfast =x I hope nothing big happens to my sis. Will be posting updates when I get them.

Movie outing

Been a while since the last time I caught a movie. Met up with Gerald to pass him the cd on Wed, then yesterday me, Ximen, Juz and Tunes went to watch the 8.55pm showing for Warlords At Golden Village @ Jurong Point.

The minute the movie started, there was nary a dull moment. Each scene was action packed, and the music was good, but some parts reminded me of POTC. Plot wise .. I liked it. Takeshi was useless, Andy Lau rocked. Won't say more about the movie .. 6/5 stars ^^

Go see! You're nuts to miss it.

WOOOOT ITS FIXED ^^

My cd-rom drive's back in business!!! Woot!!

Luke passed me the disc for the client today .. and then I went home to try to fix the problem myself after dinner .. all it took was a 3 mins search on yahoo for the solution T_T And to think I suffered a missing disk drive for 1 month ..

This is what I did (even my drive and icon were missing)

  1. Click Start, then Run, then enter REGEDIT to open the Registry Editor
  2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class entry
  3. Under the Class entry, double click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  4. In the right-hand pane, click ONCE to select the UpperFilters entry
  5. Make sure the UpperFilters entry is highlighted, press Delete, then Yes.
  6. In the right-hand pane, click ONCE to select the LowerFilters entry
  7. Make sure the LowerFilters entry is highlighted, press Delete, then Yes.
  8. Close the Registry Editor by clicking File, Exit

*I feel like a goondoo kiwi bird for my stupidity*

Anyway, installing GE now. Ahhh I'm so happy :D

Articles for thought

2 articles today in Lifestyle, Sunday Times caught my eye. One was this article from the New York Times which was featured

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/06/fashion/06push.html

and the other is 'Hanging on for dear life' by Margo McCutcheon, a Canadian writer and teacher based in Kuala Lumpur. Which I'm going to type in its entirety coz I can't find it online. I don't own the copyrights, so don't sue me!!

Read them first, elsewise you won't know I'm talking about.

For the first article - do women really need shiny baubles, bling and acessories as such as their reward for carrying the baby, then delivering? I can't speak for the majority, but surely most of us women would consider the baby sufficient reward. What's more wonderful than bringing a new life into the world, knowing you were a part of it? Maybe for some, they think that "Since I've endured 9 months of *insert whatever woeful word you want*, I should at least get some reward as recognition and gratitude.

For me, since I'm not the materialistic type, I wouldn't be asking or even hinting my hubby to get something nice for me - I don't need it. As long as the baby is healthy, I couldn't be bothered if i don't get diamond earrings/rings etc .. emotional support is good enough. More importantly, he shows he cares by being there, waiting outside the delivery room. Imagine this scenario:

Doctor, nurses: Push!!
Woman: *screams in pain, baby comes wailing out*
Doctor: Grats, you've got a healthy boy/girl!
Husband: *rushes in and thrusts a pair of diamond earrings at his wife* Honey, look what I got for you - isn't it lovely?
Wife: *disheveled, tired and clearly in no state to respond* *bish*

As for the second - the article speaks for itself. I certainly don't care if I don't live in a condo, don't own the latest car, don't have the cushiest job possible just for the sake of being "in" with the rich/trendy snobs around. Who cares? I'd rather be off somewhere in rural areas doing volunteering work than being stuck in an office, meeting deadlines and answering to my boss, earning a high salary and living the high life.

There's something rewarding about volunteer work - despite the fact that yes, you're working with handicapped children and yes, you're not paid for it. But that warm fuzzy feeling you get when that child you're assigned to smiles at having done something correctly, like brushing his teeth in the right direction after several failed tries overrides all else.

So even if I can't get into a university, have a degree and a high-paying job, I know I'll be happy doing what I love most.

This is what happened:

Taken from sGE forums in Gen Disc

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions (2.4 Manual Patch - get your download today!)

4. I have an archive named 80000(.zip) and 132 other files with the same name in my game directory, what do I do now?

Ans: NOTHING. You have successfully installed the patch to the proper location, it is now waiting for the servers to be updated at which point those files will be patched into the client. Do not extract the archive or modify it in any way or you will corrupt your client and be forced to completely reinstall.

See the part in bold? that's what happened to me. Poor innocent people who weren't told at the beginning to NOT unzip that blasted file kena GE client CORRUPTED. They only posted this warning yesterday. Knn.

Monday is still very far away. I'm aching to play .. and wanting very much to strangle IAH. Gonna go back forums and continue to blast IAH~

Muses for today

1) Potato wedges are good for stand-up lunches, especially when walking to IB tutorials. Grabbing a bite before class means no rumbling stomach when CRM ends.

2) Rainy days = freezing days. 80% chance of turning into snowpeople.

3) Seng is intimidating when he sits beside you and launches into grandfather story.

4) When gamers meet, all they can talk about .. is games, games and more games. As was the case when I went down to Woodlands to meet Luke today, a fellow GE player from Cervantes server. I'd posted in forums that I had successfully downloaded the 2.4 patch for the Bahia islands. So he pm-ed me asking if we could meet so I could pass to him. But, when transferring the 659mb file to his laptop .. everything hanged. Thrice. After 20 mins of trying, we gave up and then I accompanied him to Comics Connection at Causeway so he could reserve 2 'My Bellem Boxes' package for him and his friend.

Had trouble these days trying to re-install GE, because I downloaded some file which corrupted my game client =( So, I asked him if he could spare me the current 2.1.18 version client cd, and he said ok.

Problem was, my disk drive's driver was missing = cannot read any cds. But, he had an external hardrive. So we arranged to meet again on Monday where he would help me setup GE on my laptop. Whoopeedo ^_^

Meanwhile, I'll be catching up on work and waiting for blessed Monday to play GE again ^^

5 roasted duckies ..

Saturday, 11am saw me and Saihah waiting for the rest of the girls at AMK station. When they all arrived 35 mins later, we headed to AMK Hub's NTUC to buy snacks:

Then it was off to the interchange to take bus 13 for an hour long ride to East Coast Park. When we got down I had a helluva headache from all the jerky motions. Uggh. Then, having found a nice spot under a tree, we 5 girls squeezed together on the mat and took our time polishing off the snacks while enjoying the view. Saw quite a lot of people roller blading and cycling, sans dogs.
A while later Faizah and Clara went to try their hand at rollerblading .. lols, we had plenty of laughs while they were getting used to it. Got hungry, so we ordered the Atlantic (see left pic) and the Singapura Supreme pizza (on right) from Canadian Pizza:

5 plus pm, the guys at last arrived at ECP. It would be considerate of them to at least give some notice i) whether they were coming ii) how many were coming .. but ah well, nobody's perfect. We all went off to rent bicycles, rode to Bedok Jetty, and then a few rounds before going back. Us 5 ladies at Bedok Jetty .. wind was very strong.

After that we miled about for a while before taking bus 16 to City Hall MRT. The rest went for their steamboat dinner while Saihah and I headed home. Reached at 9pm plus, was starving already.

Gonna catch up with my work today .. nursing my aching legs .. now I'm officially sunburnt + aching legs = VAL the roasted ducky lols
