Movie outing

Been a while since the last time I caught a movie. Met up with Gerald to pass him the cd on Wed, then yesterday me, Ximen, Juz and Tunes went to watch the 8.55pm showing for Warlords At Golden Village @ Jurong Point.

The minute the movie started, there was nary a dull moment. Each scene was action packed, and the music was good, but some parts reminded me of POTC. Plot wise .. I liked it. Takeshi was useless, Andy Lau rocked. Won't say more about the movie .. 6/5 stars ^^

Go see! You're nuts to miss it.

WOOOOT ITS FIXED ^^

My cd-rom drive's back in business!!! Woot!!

Luke passed me the disc for the client today .. and then I went home to try to fix the problem myself after dinner .. all it took was a 3 mins search on yahoo for the solution T_T And to think I suffered a missing disk drive for 1 month ..

This is what I did (even my drive and icon were missing)

  1. Click Start, then Run, then enter REGEDIT to open the Registry Editor
  2. Navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Class entry
  3. Under the Class entry, double click on {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  4. In the right-hand pane, click ONCE to select the UpperFilters entry
  5. Make sure the UpperFilters entry is highlighted, press Delete, then Yes.
  6. In the right-hand pane, click ONCE to select the LowerFilters entry
  7. Make sure the LowerFilters entry is highlighted, press Delete, then Yes.
  8. Close the Registry Editor by clicking File, Exit

*I feel like a goondoo kiwi bird for my stupidity*

Anyway, installing GE now. Ahhh I'm so happy :D

Articles for thought

2 articles today in Lifestyle, Sunday Times caught my eye. One was this article from the New York Times which was featured

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/06/fashion/06push.html

and the other is 'Hanging on for dear life' by Margo McCutcheon, a Canadian writer and teacher based in Kuala Lumpur. Which I'm going to type in its entirety coz I can't find it online. I don't own the copyrights, so don't sue me!!

Read them first, elsewise you won't know I'm talking about.

For the first article - do women really need shiny baubles, bling and acessories as such as their reward for carrying the baby, then delivering? I can't speak for the majority, but surely most of us women would consider the baby sufficient reward. What's more wonderful than bringing a new life into the world, knowing you were a part of it? Maybe for some, they think that "Since I've endured 9 months of *insert whatever woeful word you want*, I should at least get some reward as recognition and gratitude.

For me, since I'm not the materialistic type, I wouldn't be asking or even hinting my hubby to get something nice for me - I don't need it. As long as the baby is healthy, I couldn't be bothered if i don't get diamond earrings/rings etc .. emotional support is good enough. More importantly, he shows he cares by being there, waiting outside the delivery room. Imagine this scenario:

Doctor, nurses: Push!!
Woman: *screams in pain, baby comes wailing out*
Doctor: Grats, you've got a healthy boy/girl!
Husband: *rushes in and thrusts a pair of diamond earrings at his wife* Honey, look what I got for you - isn't it lovely?
Wife: *disheveled, tired and clearly in no state to respond* *bish*

As for the second - the article speaks for itself. I certainly don't care if I don't live in a condo, don't own the latest car, don't have the cushiest job possible just for the sake of being "in" with the rich/trendy snobs around. Who cares? I'd rather be off somewhere in rural areas doing volunteering work than being stuck in an office, meeting deadlines and answering to my boss, earning a high salary and living the high life.

There's something rewarding about volunteer work - despite the fact that yes, you're working with handicapped children and yes, you're not paid for it. But that warm fuzzy feeling you get when that child you're assigned to smiles at having done something correctly, like brushing his teeth in the right direction after several failed tries overrides all else.

So even if I can't get into a university, have a degree and a high-paying job, I know I'll be happy doing what I love most.

This is what happened:

Taken from sGE forums in Gen Disc

FAQ: Frequently Asked Questions (2.4 Manual Patch - get your download today!)

4. I have an archive named 80000(.zip) and 132 other files with the same name in my game directory, what do I do now?

Ans: NOTHING. You have successfully installed the patch to the proper location, it is now waiting for the servers to be updated at which point those files will be patched into the client. Do not extract the archive or modify it in any way or you will corrupt your client and be forced to completely reinstall.

See the part in bold? that's what happened to me. Poor innocent people who weren't told at the beginning to NOT unzip that blasted file kena GE client CORRUPTED. They only posted this warning yesterday. Knn.

Monday is still very far away. I'm aching to play .. and wanting very much to strangle IAH. Gonna go back forums and continue to blast IAH~

Muses for today

1) Potato wedges are good for stand-up lunches, especially when walking to IB tutorials. Grabbing a bite before class means no rumbling stomach when CRM ends.

2) Rainy days = freezing days. 80% chance of turning into snowpeople.

3) Seng is intimidating when he sits beside you and launches into grandfather story.

4) When gamers meet, all they can talk about .. is games, games and more games. As was the case when I went down to Woodlands to meet Luke today, a fellow GE player from Cervantes server. I'd posted in forums that I had successfully downloaded the 2.4 patch for the Bahia islands. So he pm-ed me asking if we could meet so I could pass to him. But, when transferring the 659mb file to his laptop .. everything hanged. Thrice. After 20 mins of trying, we gave up and then I accompanied him to Comics Connection at Causeway so he could reserve 2 'My Bellem Boxes' package for him and his friend.

Had trouble these days trying to re-install GE, because I downloaded some file which corrupted my game client =( So, I asked him if he could spare me the current 2.1.18 version client cd, and he said ok.

Problem was, my disk drive's driver was missing = cannot read any cds. But, he had an external hardrive. So we arranged to meet again on Monday where he would help me setup GE on my laptop. Whoopeedo ^_^

Meanwhile, I'll be catching up on work and waiting for blessed Monday to play GE again ^^

5 roasted duckies ..

Saturday, 11am saw me and Saihah waiting for the rest of the girls at AMK station. When they all arrived 35 mins later, we headed to AMK Hub's NTUC to buy snacks:

Then it was off to the interchange to take bus 13 for an hour long ride to East Coast Park. When we got down I had a helluva headache from all the jerky motions. Uggh. Then, having found a nice spot under a tree, we 5 girls squeezed together on the mat and took our time polishing off the snacks while enjoying the view. Saw quite a lot of people roller blading and cycling, sans dogs.
A while later Faizah and Clara went to try their hand at rollerblading .. lols, we had plenty of laughs while they were getting used to it. Got hungry, so we ordered the Atlantic (see left pic) and the Singapura Supreme pizza (on right) from Canadian Pizza:

5 plus pm, the guys at last arrived at ECP. It would be considerate of them to at least give some notice i) whether they were coming ii) how many were coming .. but ah well, nobody's perfect. We all went off to rent bicycles, rode to Bedok Jetty, and then a few rounds before going back. Us 5 ladies at Bedok Jetty .. wind was very strong.

After that we miled about for a while before taking bus 16 to City Hall MRT. The rest went for their steamboat dinner while Saihah and I headed home. Reached at 9pm plus, was starving already.

Gonna catch up with my work today .. nursing my aching legs .. now I'm officially sunburnt + aching legs = VAL the roasted ducky lols

Crazy week

Gone case for CRM and Mkt research test. Econs .. went ok. Guess I'm lucky I had an easy paper.

Overwhelmed with tests this week .. am feeling super drained.

Atm in lab doing ITIPJ .. and tomorrow, celebrating Saihah's n Yan Zheng's b-day at East Coast Park.

Achieved my goals for Mechquest - I saved til 100k and bought that uber mecha .. now I pawn ^_^

And for GE .. 939798 .. I'm reaching vet! Woot! But the final stretch is soooo hard to attain. Plus slow. Ah well, I'll do what I can.

I JUST WANT THIS WEEK TO END.

November 24, 2007

o_0 I'm hardworking 0_o

Most of today was spent studying. Yes you read right, studying. More of doing revision and notes for my ICAs (Marketing Research, CRM, Econs) next week.

I myself am baffled as to how come I'd be so .. guai today, but who knows .. maybe its time I oughta start working hard.

Roasting in the balcony where I set up my table while listening to music at the same time, ah well, if I can get things done by today* I'm free to play tomorrow ^_^

*Assuming I can tahan the long wordy chapters of doom before I get distracted and run GE client =x

Anyways, gonna continue being guai~ Ja na.

November 22, 2007

After medication, my neck doesn't hurt so much now ^_^ Hopefully the pain will be gone asap hehe .. and thanks to those who showed concern ..

Nth much to blog about, except that next week there's tons of ICAs .. this week went by pretty fast, and next week's coming .. time really flies, doesn't it?

Well Jean, what you said made sense .. thanks for taking the time out to hear my rantings, I'm glad you found the guy of your dreams, I hope I find my anchor soon as well. All the best to both of you! ^_^

Gonna do my tutorials now, ciao.

November 20, 2007

The whole of last night was spent trying to breathe properly with a blocked nose that ran. Was very very tempted to chop my nose off; it was running like a tap. Woke late this morning, and went down to see the doctor who gave me an MC and told me to drink more water.

My medicine from the clinic, the one in the bottle is from my tui-na session.

After that, Mum brought me to Jurong East, where we took bus 334 to Jurong West St 42. Walked a few blocks to reach the tui-na clinic at Blk 541, Jurong West Ave 1:

The Malaysian couple who run the clinic live in Bedok, but base their clinic in Jurong West because most of their customers live around the area. While waiting for my turn, me and my mum chatted with an old lady, a childcare teacher who'd suffered from mild stroke on her left side and was warded in TTSH for a month and a half before being discharged. In addition to her weekly physiotherapy sessions, she would come down from her home in Balestier and do tui-na, which she said helped to relieve the numbing sensations in her left limbs.

When it came to me, the sinseh told me to sit straight and relax while he massaged my back, neck, head and arms to get the blood circulation flowing. It was only a 15 min session, and it didn't hurt as much to move my neck, but it still hurts. He gave me a bottle of pills which I had to take for the swelling of my back muscles.

Gonna submit my MC and stuff tomorrow. Meanwhile I'm going to stay huddled in bed from the cold. Catch yall later.

November 19, 2007

This is what my sis handed me late last night, went to bed late so I'd no time to post this:

A Kakashi keychain!! For RM 6.90 only hoho. Yayness ^_^ I'd have put it on my pencilcase but I was afraid the plastic would break, so he's just hanging in my cupboard. So I can open the cupboard anytime I want to daydream XD

Today, I'm sadded.

First, I slipped and fell just outside my room. Not flat on my face but on my back. Mum says I broke my neck. Dad says I've musta torn a muscle. Which as things go, its the later, because every slight movement of my neck makes a spot in my back hurt like crazy nuts. Its a pain standing, sitting, lying down .. yeah you get the drift. Mum says I should go for tui-na. Eek. But if its gonna hurt the whole week, I'm going to have to take the risk.

Second, Robin screwed his presentation big time. The things he said and the things we rehearsed in lab were TOTALLY different. Like yeah I was expecting him to screw up, but damn couldnt he just prove everyone wrong this one time? Apparently not. I was so disappointed, he added/edited/minus-ed things that didn't belong there in the first place. For fuck's sake! I HATE YOUR IMPROMPTU PRESENTATIONS YOU BLOODY BUGGER!

I hate Mondays. Rawr. *grumble*

Here's two videos, one from Naruto's opening theme and the other from Naruto Shippuden.

They're home!

Safe and sound .. no more lonely nights hehe ^_^ but they bought so many things, they had to buy a small suitcase Korea-made to bring everything back lols. My prezzies: Clothes and a wallet (yay), plus a nice purple watch.

To cut the long story short, here's a pic:

The crocodile that my bro won at one of the game booths at Genting, the rest of the soft toys are my sis's which she bought using her own money. Oh, and my spiffy new wallet propped up against the giraffe.

Gonna rehearse for the presentation before I sleep. Good luck guys for tomorrow!!

November 15, 2007

Completed all my e-learning stuff today, since GE having maintainence. Left with finding my 4 articles on Myanmar for IB ICA 2, and doing a ppt slide for ITIPJ.

Been going back to sch on Tues, for my Econs lec. Surprisingly, all the year 1 turned up for lesson lol. All so guai haha. Then yesterday was for IB meet up. Tomorrow, Econs tut in the morning, then ITIPJ meeting in the late afternoon. Phoey.

GE aside, MechQuest is relatively fun. But, Orisinal games isn't too bad - they have nice soundtracks to go with the games. Too bad the soundtracks aren't for sale. Ho hum.

Off for a nap, au revoir!

November 14, 2007

Emo-ness.

I'm getting depressed.

They just went out the door not 10 mins ago and now I'm already starting to feel lonely. 4 days without them at home .. its going to be a long, horrid period to tide over. Games suddenly don't feel as fun to play as it did last week when Mom announced their holiday plans.

Haiz .. hope they enjoy themselves and have a good time .. and come home safely. Meanwhile I'm going to listen to emo songs.

Ja na.

November 12, 2007

Home alone! Or not.

The whole family will be off to KL, Malaysia for a 4D3N stay from Wed to Sun at Swiss Garden Hotel, then Times Square. I say whole, but actually its sans the maid and me. Which means, I can go ballistic on the comp. Which means, x2 exp. Forgotten Territory grinding. FULL TRAINING. Chiong all the way. Granado Espada FTW!!

Mum set aside some money for us two to survive at home til they come back. I'm thinking chocolatey dinners for some reason. Muahah. Naruto-wise, I watched the fillers til eps 212, then jumped to Shippuden, am at eps 18 now. Neji suddenly became oh-my-gosh-super HAWT when he's grown up. 2nd on the list of hot guys in Naruto! First of course is Kakashi-sensei.

GE wise .. on Sunday, we showed Vivaldi who's the best. Moja and the rest of the vets and pros went and whacked EliteVietNam (EVN) upside down by taking their colonies. Of course they tried to get it back but we pawned them totally. So, Vivaldi 11/11 results: Hellraiders - 4 colonies. Equals a hp buff of 27%. I so lurve this faction :D I think by next Sun we can totally kick the Viets off the server. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that.

Last but not least - new skin! Marshmellows! Best dipped in hot chocolate on rainy days, especially now that its the rainy season til Jan. Huhu. FREEZE-ness. Uggh.

November 07, 2007

A few vids to share ..

Video of Naruto Movie 3's Ending Theme: Tsubomi by Maria

And this short clip from eps 182:

November 06, 2007

Reflections ..

CW on Sunday was fun, we were mostly getting targeted by EVN, who kept attacking our colony up to the last min. Moja split us into squads, so while squad 2 (me included) defended Deso Cliff, squad 1 went to try and get a colony at Katovic Snowfield. In the end we didn't have enough time, although we almost got it, while squad 1 and 2 alternatively warped back to defend. One day we shall kick Viets off the server.

Because of secondary sch students coming over to the poly for some camp session, I get a whole week of holiday! Yayness. But, I still have to go back for Econs. Bah humbug. Otherwise the whole week I can dedicate my time to GE =)

Went home during the 3 hr break today as usual, while on the train I sat beside a mother holding her little boy. The baby was small, cute, but he had a tape of sorts attached to his upper lip. If I'm not wrong, the little one just had a surgery to correct his cleft palate, because he was hiccuping all the way through, and smelled like he just came from the hospital.

Then, headed to 7 Eleven to get some snacks. There was a long queue, with kids and adults alike waiting for their turn. Was getting quite unhappy by the time I reached the front. But, the auntie at the counter greeted me amicably in a friendly manner. Was surprised to get such a response by then. Previous staff were always dour, stuffing your purchase into the plastic bag roughly; but this one made a difference.

Have yet to redo my part of the ITIPJ proposal, need to get it going.

Ta for now.

November 02, 2007

Projectplaylist got blocked. Gendou music dwld got blocked. Deviantart has some pics that can't be loaded. Blogskins preview is not showing anything.

FUCK THE SCH FILTER. BOYCOTT!!! x infinity

Anyway, completed the proposal for ITIPJ today. Actually, it was Shermin that was doing most of the work =x Robin, who suggested meeting today, was playing racing car game T_T And me, I occasionally contributed comments. This is what I made with PhotoImpact, my new GE forum siggy:

Cute! First he's hot, then he's kawaii .. omg KAKASHI ROCKS MY WORLD :D

Check out his marriage prospects hehe (pic from deviantart)

November 01, 2007
